Hiring a Domestic Worker Through Musaned: The Online Steps, Insurance Policy and Contract

Households that hire a domestic worker from abroad often hear the same advice: “do it all through Musaned.” The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) lists the online journey step by step, from choosing a candidate to approving the contract. This guide turns those steps into a plain checklist, so you know what to prepare and where you will be sent to another website.

Quick answer

On Musaned, an employer with an active account and a valid issued visa can hire a domestic worker from outside the Kingdom: choose gender, profession and nationality, review candidates, make an offer to a recruitment office, approve the contractual insurance policy, review and approve the contract, pay through Musaned and confirm. A separate, optional service documents contracts with workers already in the Kingdom.

Key takeaways

  • Platform: Musaned, the government site for domestic worker services.
  • You need: an active Musaned account and a valid issued visa.
  • Insurance: the contractual insurance policy is bought on the insurance provider’s platform, then you return to Musaned.
  • Payment: the required payment is completed through Musaned.
  • Contract documentation: free and not mandatory, per HRSD.
  • Help: Musaned lists its contact channels on its own pages; use those.

Before you start

HRSD’s service page for hiring a domestic worker lists two prerequisites: an active Musaned account and a valid issued visa. Musaned’s home page describes its aim as simplifying the hiring journey and putting the required procedures in one place, and lists service groups such as visas, recruitment, worker management and service transfer.

The steps HRSD lists

From candidate to confirmed request

1

Open “Workers” in the menu, then “Hire a new Worker”.

2

Choose “Hire a Domestic Worker from Outside the Kingdom” and answer “Yes, help me find a candidate”.

3

Set gender, profession and nationality, browse the available resumes and choose a candidate.

4

Send the job offer to the recruitment office.

5

When the offer is accepted, review and approve the contractual insurance policy, then go to the insurance provider’s platform to buy it.

6

Return to Musaned, verify the contract details, approve the contract the office submitted, pay through Musaned and confirm the request.

Tip

Keep the contract details you expect (role, duration, terms) in a note before you open step 6. Compare them line by line with the contract on screen before you approve.

Where you leave Musaned

The page lists one point where you step outside: the insurance provider’s platform. You select an insurance company and coverage, complete the purchase there, then come back to Musaned to review the contract. Check that you are on the provider’s genuine site, and keep your confirmation.

Warning

Do not pay or send documents to anyone who contacts you through social media or a messaging app claiming to speed up a Musaned request. Use the Musaned site or app and the recruitment office shown inside your account.

Costs: check before you pay

HRSD’s page does not set out an amount for the whole journey. The cost depends on what you choose and what the insurance provider and recruitment office show. Treat any figure you see elsewhere as unconfirmed, and read the amounts shown on the Musaned and insurance screens as listed there, before you pay.

Contract documentation (optional)

A second HRSD service documents a domestic labour contract inside the Kingdom, so that the contract includes all necessary items. HRSD lists it as free, available through Musaned, and not mandatory.

HRSD lists the steps for documentation as: open Contracts, choose Documentation under New Requests, complete and submit the request. The worker receives an authentication link by text message, enters their residence number and the verification code, and agrees to the contract within five days. When the worker accepts, the notarised contract is issued and its status becomes “valid”.

Questions to ask your recruitment office

Before you approve

  • Does the contract on screen match what we discussed?
  • Which insurance company and coverage will I choose, and where is it purchased?
  • What is the total I will pay on Musaned, and what does each part cover?
  • What happens next if the request is rejected or needs a change?
  • Where do I find my contract and its status once it is approved?

Musaned’s FAQ section on its home page covers questions such as response times and what happens if a visa request is rejected. Read those answers on the site before you pay.
