Painterly night road with a green and a white car touching bumpers under a glowing phone camera frame: reporting a minor car accident with Najm and Absher

Minor Car Accident in Saudi Arabia? How Reporting Works (Najm and Absher)

A small bump in traffic is stressful, especially if you are new to driving in the Kingdom. The good news is that minor accidents are now largely handled through digital channels. This guide covers the photos you should take, how reporting through the Najm app works, and the Absher minor accident service listed on the National Platform.

Quick answer

If anyone is hurt, call emergency services first. For a minor accident, document it with photos (point of impact, accident markings, location, visible evidence such as skid marks, and all four sides of each car), then report it: through the Najm app, which says you can report accidents “in a few simple steps”, or through Absher’s Minor Accident Reporting service under My Services → Vehicle Services (my.gov.sa).

Key takeaways

  • Absher path: My Services → Vehicle Services → Minor Accident Reporting.
  • Photos can be uploaded later: per the National Platform.
  • Photo list: point of impact, markings, location, ground evidence, four sides of the car.
  • Najm app: report accidents, track progress, submit claims and objections.
  • Najm support email: listed on its official app page (Google Play).

First: is it really minor?

These digital routes are for minor accidents. If anyone is injured, or you are unsure, contact emergency services and follow the instructions of the authorities on scene. Your safety and others’ comes before any paperwork.

Warning

Never argue at the roadside or agree to “settle it in cash” with a stranger. Use the official reporting channels so the accident is recorded properly for insurance.

The photos to take

The National Platform’s Minor Accident Reporting service is very specific about evidence. It says each party is required to document the incident by taking photos, which can be uploaded later. The photos must include:

Accident photos (per the National Platform)

  • The point of impact
  • The accident markings
  • The accident location
  • Visible evidence on the ground, such as skid marks, fluids or stains
  • Each car from the front, rear, right side and left side

Tip

Take the photos before anyone moves the cars, if it is safe to do so. A wide shot that shows the road and lane markings is as useful as a close-up of the dent.

Reporting through Absher

The National Platform lists Minor Accident Reporting as a Ministry of Interior service that lets you report a minor traffic accident electronically by completing an accident register form. The result is listed as immediate.

Najm for Insurance Services runs the Najm app. Its official Google Play listing says the app lets you:

  • use “As’hal”, covering towing, damage assessment, claims and repairs;
  • speak to Najm specialists by video call (“Virtual Visit”);
  • issue certified digital reports in the app.

Note

Which route applies can depend on your insurance and the circumstances. If you are unsure, check with your insurer or follow the instructions given in the Najm app.

After the report

Keep your report number and photos together, and contact your insurer about the claim. If the accident leads to a traffic violation, you can check and pay fines online; our guide to traffic fines and Saher explains how.
